Enemalta Takes problems in gas section seriously: some more questions

Malta Independent Sunday, 7 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The top management of Enemalta took immediate action following last week’s report on the gas section in this newspaper.

The ball seems to have started rolling but, just to roll it more, here are some more questions that Enemalta officials and board may care to answer:

Can Enemalta confirm that the gas division, with its obsolete machinery, is losing some Lm360,000 a year?

When experts visited Malta to help the Privatisation Unit in the adjudication of the gas tender, did Enemalta ask their advice regarding the present situation at Qajjenza?

Is the average customer receiving the exact weight of gas he is paying for? Or is he receiving less? Or is he, even more dangerously, receiving more than he paid for?

Can Enemalta inform the consumers how much full gas cylinders should weigh, according to the different cylinder sizes?

One last word: If you think safety is expensive, try and work out the cost of negligence.
