The Church newspaper Il-Gens said yesterday that when he visits the Vatican on 18 January, Prime Minister Gonzi will invite Pope Benedict XVI to visit Malta.
If the Pope accepts, he will be the second Pope to visit Malta. Pope John Paul II visited Malta twice, in 1990 and 2002.
