Air Malta did not apply for any one of the routes offered for low-cost airlines because “new routes must make commercial sense”, Investment, Industry and IT Minister Austin Gatt told Labour MP Evarist Bartolo.

82 graduates out of work

By the end of last October there were no fewer than 82 graduates who were registering as unemployed, Education Minister Louis Galea told Labour MP Adrian Vassallo.

Employers may put in as many monitoring cameras as they like

There is nothing in the Employment and Industrial Relations Act about security precautions at places of work nor is there any objection in the law if the employer wants to monitor his staff for security reasons as long as the Data Protection Act is observed, Dr Galea told Labour MP Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, who asked if an employer can fill the place of work with monitoring cameras in practically all corners and continually monitor the employees. She asked if this conflicts with the working conditions as laid down in the law.

No delays in post in Christmastime

Independent consultants have not found any evidence that there are delays in the delivery of post, Minister Gatt told Ms Coleiro Preca.

The minister was quoting from a survey which covers October 2005 to September 2006, and which states that 92.14 per cent of letters were delivered the next day they were posted.

But Ms Coleiro Preca had asked about the post delivery during Christmastime and beyond and claimed that some letters are even taking 10 days or almost a month to get delivered.
