The National Statistics Office (NSO) managerial group yesterday said that it has never been subject to any external and internal pressure and has always adhered to established methodologies.
Referring to a statement issued last Friday by the Malta Statistics Authority, announcing the resignation of Dr Gordon Cordina from the post of Director General of the National Statistics Office, the NSO managerial group stated it has always adhered to “established methodologies that promote the science of statistics and best statistical practices, observing the core values of confidentiality, integrity and impartiality in work processes.”
Furthermore, it said, “under no circumstance have we been subject to any pressure, political or otherwise, internal or external, to manipulate the official statistics that are published.”
The managerial group also said that it always had “confidence in the leadership, integrity and technical competence of the Directors General of the NSO.”
