Euro Conversion information on HSBC ATMS

Malta Independent Friday, 9 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

For the advantage of all its clients, and in line with Malta’s commitment to adopt the euro as Malta’s national currency on 1 January 2008, HSBC has launched a new information and communication initiative on its ATM network.

Given the NECC’s objective that the public becomes more familiar with the conversion values between the Maltese lira and the euro, new signage has been placed on all HSBC ATMs. These signs show common Maltese currency amounts such as Lm5, Lm10, Lm25, Lm50 and Lm100 and their respective euro equivalent.

This is in line with the bank’s commitment to be at the forefront of Malta’s euro changeover progression and the initiative follows HSBC’s launch of a new Euro Converter Account and a new Euroinfo webpage now available on HSBC’s website.

“HSBC already has a substantial presence across the eurozone and is using its experience to prepare for the changeover here in Malta” said HSBC Bank Malta plc’s chief executive officer, Shaun Wallis.

“The bank will gradually increase its communication with its clients to ensure they are kept up to date on what is happening in relation to the euro adoption process and how it will effect them,” he added.
