The mayor of Zebbug, Gozo, the architect of the Zebbug local council, and a contractor yesterday filed three separate libel suits in the Gozo Court against Labour Party councillor Joseph Camilleri over an article that appeared in General Workers’ Union daily newspaper l-orizzont. Zebbug mayor Charles Saliba, Zebbug local council architect Edward Scerri and contractor Nicky Saliba filed the cases against Mr Camilleri claiming he had made false allegations in an article that appeared in l-orizzont on 4 January 2007, titled An open letter to the local council director.

The three men requested the court to declare the article defamatory and order Mr Camilleri to pay them damages.
