New Fuel station, three years old, never used

Malta Independent Sunday, 4 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

On Park 1 at the Malta International Airport, one can find a fuel station. This is brand new, three years old – and has never been used.

It was supposed to provide self-service to small and medium planes and supply them with fuel 24 hours a day. But after thousands of liri having been spent in setting it up, it has never been used.

At present, a customer is served by ordering fuel from Enemalta, which then sends the bowser to provide supply.

But many times, especially in summer, the bowser is not readily available and the customer then has to wait for hours to be served.

Imagine a foreigner, coming to Malta with his own plane, having then to wait for long hours to be supplied with fuel.
