The Nationalist-led Attard council only fulfilled 40 per cent of its electoral manifesto Malta Labour Party (MLP) leader Dr Alfred Sant said yesterday.
During a visit to Attard in connection with the local elections to be held there on Saturday, Dr Sant accused the council of promising a sports complex for the last two local campaigns. However, the council has only finished drawing up the plans, said the Labour leader.
He also criticised the council for failing to fulfil a promise made in 2001 to open a day care centre for the elderly and promises made in 2004 to build new offices for the council and refurbish the local clinic.
The Nationalist-led council, said Dr Sant, did not carry out road surfacing works or embellishment projects it had promised over the years.
Dr Sant said MLP candidates were pledging to make pressure for the care centre and new council offices to be built. They will also organise training courses in an array of subjects and insist that at least two roads should be surfaced per year.
