The Nadur local council has been awarded a grant following a call by the European Parliament to inform Gozitan and Maltese people on the European Parliament’s role and the history of the EU, in the framework for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome.
This event will be held in the central square and surrounding areas from Friday to Sunday. Institutional participants like local councils, the Ministry for Gozo, European Parliament Representation Office, Forum Malta fl-Ewropa, National Euro Changeover Committee and other interested organisations will have stands to inform citizens directly on European matters.
Local producers of traditional products and manufactures will also have a stand to present the specialities of the Island Region of Gozo.
On Friday morning and early afternoon there will be activities for schools to make students more aware of the History of Europe. Students will have the opportunity to directly address European Union representatives.
On Saturday, youths will be the main focus group as street theatres and concerts will alternate in the course of the afternoon and evening. On this occasion an exhibition of paintings of European artists will be inaugurated in cooperation with the Charter of European Rural Communities.
Finally, Sunday, will be devoted to families with various activities in all three sections as well as along the streets of Nadur.
