The British High Commission is pleased to announce that it will be nominating six candidates for Chevening scholarships for the academic year 2007/2008. The successful candidates are:
Victor Fiorini, Karl Montfort, Ryan Callus, Owen Grech, Kristina Pullicino, Omar Cutajar
The candidates’ nominations will now be taken forward by the British Council, in conjunction with the chosen universities. Alongside those nominated, three candidates have been placed on a reserve list. Should any of the six candidates not take up the offer of a Chevening scholarship, a reserve candidate will be offered their place. The courses selected by the candidates cannot be confirmed at this stage, as some universities are still to confirm acceptance.
The scholarship will cover either all or part of the tuition fees for the course of study.
This brings to a close the selection process for Chevening scholarships in Malta for the academic year 2007/2008. The British Council and the British High Commission offer Chevening scholarships each academic year for postgraduate studies or research at British universities.
Applications for this year’s scholarship scheme closed on Friday 24 November. Fifty-six applications were received by the closing date. Of those 56, 14 candidates were invited to an interview.
The interview panel consisted of representatives from the British High Commission and British Council, and also included Dr George Abela, as an external member.
The interviews took place at the British High Commission on 19-20 December.
