The government confirmed yesterday that people travelling to Rome for the canonisation ceremony of Dun Gorg Preca will be exempt from paying the departure tax.
In a statement issued by the DOI, the government said that it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the people of Malta.
The government wants to give this concession to the people for this occasion to be enjoyed by the greatest number of people.
The departure tax will be halved as from June.
