Reach, a team of 12 University of Malta students, is contesting the student body KSU elections that will be held tomorrow. Reach president Matthew Caruana told a news conference it was important to have an independent KSU that did not have affiliations with any particular political party.
Mr Caruana introduced the 12 members of Reach and emphasised that each member has experience in various student organisations, including the three who are on KSU’s current executive board.
“Reach does not have a political agenda to push and is only interested in looking out for the interests of students and being a representative council that unites the student body instead of dividing it through political pique,” he said.
In KSU, Reach will work on improving accessibility to KSU for all students, the dissemination of information and increased participation. Education will be a priority, with special focus to be given to student complaints, an independent complaints system and quality assurance.
Reach is comprised of Matthew Caruana, Veronique Muscat, Bernard Darmanin, Christian Peregin, Leah Gatt, Alessandra Camilleri, Matthew Mizzi, Sarah Bonnici, Luke Mercieca and Patricia Darmanin. Joseph Gilson and Jennifer Magri are also contesting with Reach within the Education Commission and the Social Policy Commission respectively.
