The European Commission has proposed various measures to ensure a smoother functioning of the internal market for goods, Forum Malta fl-Ewropa said in a statement yesterday. This should facilitate the marketing of products in the EU, while at the same time maintaining a high level of safety and quality.
Consultation and effective contribution from interested parties remains paramount, given the widespread effect of these measures. It is in this context that Forum Malta fl-Ewropa and the Malta Standards Authority are holding an information and consultation seminar on Tuesday. This should be of particular interest to manufacturers, exporters and importers, retailers and consumer representatives.
It is very important for Maltese stakeholders to register their views and ideas on the application of such measures. Issues related to conformity assessment bodies and the accreditation process, as well as market surveillance, will be discussed.
A proposal to implement a procedure for mutual recognition of products that fall outside the scope of harmonised EU legislation, and that
currently do not necessarily benefit from the right of free circulation, will also be presented.
Participation is free of charge. However, in view of the limited number of seats, registration is strongly recommended. Registrations should reach Forum offices by not later than noon on Monday on fax number 2122-7580 or by email to [email protected]
