Taxi Driver accused of assaulting sister-in-law

A taxi driver was remanded in custody yesterday after pleading not guilty of assaulting and slightly injuring his sister-in-law on Wednesday afternoon in St Julian’s.

Julian Genovese, 47, from San Gwann, pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring Maria Cauchi, threatening and offending her, breaching the peace, damaging Ms Cauchi’s property, relapsing and breaching the conditions of two court judgements.

Before magistrate Doreen Clarke, Mr Genovese denied the charges brought against him. He was remanded in custody.

Police Inspectors Carmelo Abdilla and Carlo Ellul prosecuted while Dr Charmaine Cherrett represented the accused.
