St John’s Co-Cathedral, one of Malta’s most important places of worship as well as one of the island’s most visited cultural attractions, has just launched its official website, which is full of resourceful and interesting information, richly accompanied by images of the building and its priceless artefacts.

The website includes practical information for those planning to visit the national monument as well as the times of religious services and the latest news and events.

Added to this is a wealth of information on the history of St John’s and the Knights who built it, the precious works of art contained within, such as the world famous Beheading of Saint John the Baptist by Caravaggio, and the painstaking restoration projects undertaken by the St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation.

Another important feature of this website is its development – by Media Consulta, Malta – to comply with accessibility guidelines set out by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which are more stringent than local accessibility guidelines.

St John’s Co-Cathedral curator Cynthia De Giorgio explained the importance of the website’s accessibility issues. “Our website has been produced in order to give as much information about St John’s as possible and to present it in a way that makes it available to as many visitors as possible.”
