Leading world-renowned stars of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia will be performing in Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake in Malta this month together with the prestigious State Academy Theatre of Classical Ballet of Russia and the Presidents Orchestra of Moscow in a limited number of international performances at the Mediterranean Conference Centre.

According to the Russian organisers, over 100 ballet dancers and musicians are expected to perform in Malta in what is set to be one of the “most prestigious cultural and musical events” to be organised in Malta this year. The Bolshoi stars performing in Malta include leading Bolshoi soloists Anna Antonicheva, Yelena Andrienko, Vladimir Neporozhny, Sergei Filin and Mark Peretokin. Founded in 1776 on the orders of Catherine the Great, the Bolshoi practically defined the art form of ballet and the Bolshoi is today considered to be an institution in the international world of ballet.

A spokesperson for the Russian organisers described the event being held in Malta as a “first” and anticipated a strong demand for the limited performances to be held between 19 and 23 April. The first performance is set to be directed towards students and schools and therefore the organisers are expected to announce discounted rates for the occasion. The organisers said the mixture of the Bolshoi star soloists, the State Academy of Classical Ballet of Russia and the President’s Orchestra of Moscow is a “unique and prestigious combination” not to be missed by the Maltese. A ticket hotline is expected to be announced shortly, the spokesperson said.

The organisers said the Bolshoi Theatre soloists are not only very strong in Moscow but also command an equally powerful and magical effect on all generations across the world. The Bolshoi continue to be seen and perceived as the leading prestigious ballet in the world.
