A One Television documentary, The Tal-Qadi Stone, produced by Chris and Maurice Micallef has been awarded Best Director Award – Documentary in the International Independent Film and Video Festival which was held in Los Angeles between 1 and 8 March. It will be aired on One TV on 8 April at 9.30pm.
The Tal-Qadi Stone was the only Maltese entry in the festival, which also screened 88 productions from around the world. The opening gala of the festival was an interactive event featuring a film market and an art exhibition. As is customary, the whole spectrum of the entertainment industry including distributors, producers, casting agencies and international press, was present.
Every year the festival serves as an opportunity for film-makers world-wide to promote their productions. It serves as a window of opportunity for these film-makers to develop business contacts with representatives from leading production houses such as Miramax, MGM Fox-Searchlight, Sony Pictures, ITN Distribution, William Morris, LionsGate, IMC Channel, MTV, Greenstreet Films, New Line and Paramount.
One Television said it was very proud of this prestigious award, the third in a row in the same festival with the other two coming from the other documentary, The Phoenicians produced by the same duo. One Television said this reaffirmed its position as a leading producer of quality documentaries of international standard as well as a mover in promoting Maltese heritage with international audiences.
