The chamber ensemble of The New Choral Singers will be presenting Exultate!, a concert of choral music, at St Catherine of Italy church in Valletta on Sunday, 15 April at 11am.

Exultate! is a collection of select musical items that narrate the liturgical events of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The concert consists of six main sections entitled His Words, Agony of Death, Veneration of the Body, He is Alive, the Ascension and Gift of the Holy Spirit.

As indicated by the titles, each section contains beautiful compositions that are particularly appropriate for the Easter Season. The repertoire moves from the solemnity of pieces such as If Ye Love Me (Tallis) and The Seven Last Words (Gounod) to the jubilant Exultate Justi (Viadana) and the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah, to mention a few. The choir will be accompanied by Dr Romina Morrow on the organ.

This concert is part of the Meditation – Festival of the Sacred Arts. The festival consists of a number of Easter related events that are being held at both St James Cavalier and at the church of St Catherine of Italy in Valletta. Full details of the festival can be found at www.sjcav.org
