Valletta Fund Management (VFM) will today introduce the Vilhena Global Themed Fund, which will focus on a number of global investment themes that are set to benefit from the changes affecting today’s world.
The fund will be sub-managed by Insight Investment Management (Global) Ltd, the investment management arm of Halifax Bank of Scotland plc.
David Marchant, Insight Head of International Equities, explained the concept underlying themed funds. “Your average textbook will state that the more diversified investments are, the less risks are incurred and the more chances there are for a return on investment,” he said. Mr Marchant explained that regional funds might include necessary, yet unwanted, stocks in a portfolio, due to a lack of choice. On the other hand, global funds give a wide variety of opportunities for investors.
Bank of Valletta chief
executive officer Tonio Depasquale said the fund would enrich VFM’s array of 25 different funds in four
currencies totalling e750
million.
VFM general manager Peter Perrotti said the fund was available in US dollars and Maltese lira.
During the initial offer period from today until 15 May, the initial fee will be halved from four per cent to two per cent.
