The Labour Party’s international secretary, Dr Joe Mifsud has been invited by the European Socialist Party to form part of a delegation that will meet a group from Fatah which is being sent to Brussels by Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas.

The Fatah delegation will be composed of MPs who form part of the Palestinian Legislative Council which lately has formed a national government with Hamas and other Palestinian factions.

Dr Mifsud has long followed the events in the Middle East and his doctoral thesis was in fact about Palestinian refugees in international law.

The Fatah delegation is expected to inform its European counterparts of the work of the national government as well as what is being planned for its first congress since the death of Yassir Arafat.
