Maltese singer Lucienne Cassar won an edition of the popular La Corrida show, broadcast on Italian private television station Canale 5 last Saturday.

Ms Cassar sang the famous Italian song Funiculi, funicula.

The show features amateurs in various performing arts, including singing, dancing and acting. Ms Cassar received the strongest applause from the studio audience – which is the way in which performances are gauged – and also won the tele-

voting contest, collecting 26 per cent of the votes.

Programme presenter Gerry Scotti hailed Ms Cassar’s performance, and before presenting her with the prize, expressed his appreciation to the thousands of Maltese who follow this and other Canale 5 shows.
