The PARK department within the Rural Affairs and the Environment Ministry has received a donation of six tons of potting compost and organic fertiliser from GVoA a company in Minden, Germany.
The donation follows a request from the local non-governmental organisation The International Tree Foundation (Malta) to its German partner NGO FEE.
FEE chairman Burkart Schulte said that the donation will go towards the tree planting project at Ta’ Qali National Park, and that he and his colleagues are determined to continue helping Malta in its tree-planting programme.
This, he added, could be done in various ways and the exact nature of such support is currently being studied by the German NGO from Minden.
ITF Malta chairman Joseph Borg said that, as a result of the long-standing cooperation between the two societies, public projects in Malta and in Gozo related to trees and the environment have benefited through the donation of various vehicles and equipment made by members of the German NGO and by German firms that support FEE.
