Alternattiva Demokratika accused Enemalta Corporation of trying to deceive the public on monitoring of emissions by the power generating plants. EU directives insisted on continuous monitoring of emissions and this was not being done, as confirmed by the European Commission, AD said.
AD’s environment and energy spokesperson, Ralph Cassar, said that both Marsa and Delimara power stations had to be in line with the requirements of the EU directives by 1 May, 2004. The only exception was the dust levels from Delimara power station. Enemalta, in replying to an earlier AD statement, confirmed that both plants were still not in line with these requirements.
