A man from San Gwann was yesterday charged with raping his nephew and niece between 2003 and 2006 as well as with defiling them and another niece.

The 52-year-old man, whose name is not being published in order to protect the identity of the minor children, was accused of raping the two children in several places in Malta, holding them against their will and permitting the shooting of indecent photographs and videos of the children who were still under the age of nine years.

Before Magistrate Edwina Grima, the man pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was not granted bail and was remanded in custody.

Police Inspectors Carmelo Abdilla and Martin Sammut prosecuted.
