The Lasallian community at De La Salle College is commemorating the 40th anniversary of the unveiling of the St John Baptist De La Salle monument, which stands at the entrance to the college.

The inauguration and blessing of this unique monument took place on 26 May 1967 under the patronage of the Brother Superior, Bro. Charles Henry, FSC.

The monument is the work of the eminent artist Chev. Emvin Cremona. It was built with the voluntary donation of the first week’s salary of the then successful dockyard apprentices who were attending the college between 1951 and 1959.

The Former Students Association (FSA), founded in 1965, wished to commemorate this event by holding a special programme. Members of the committee are therefore inviting former students, particularly those who contributed towards the erection of the monument, to join the Lasallian family at the college on Saturday at 7.30pm.

The FSA is appealing to all those who contributed towards this cause to contact the association at the earliest opportunity, either by emailing on [email protected] or by calling 9922-9429 or 2182-6447 (college). The association is also encouraging those who will be attending on the day to bring along any related memorabilia, such as old certificates, badges, school uniforms and photographs.
