Italian pop singer Gigi d’Alessio and his band will be performing at Manoel Island on 11 August, Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech announced yesterday.

Dr Zammit Dimech said Gigi d’Alessio’s concert will be another in a series of music events – many featuring Italian singers – being organised in Malta this year and he had no doubt that such events would attract more tourists to the country.

Referring to Italian tourists, Dr Zammit Dimech said that last year, incoming tourism from Italy had increased by almost 22 per cent over the previous year and during the first three months of this year, this rate had increased by a further 33.3 per cent.

Italians are the third largest group of tourists in Malta, he said, adding that the introduction of low-cost carriers operating from Italy to Malta was undoubtedly one of the factors that led to an increase in the number of Italian tourists.

Gigi d’Alessio’s concert is being organised by MCK Promotions.
