Tal-Kaptan Restaurant Opens at Valletta Waterfront

AX Holdings has opened a new Tal-Kaptan restaurant in Vault 6 at the Valletta Waterfront. In keeping with the name, the restaurant has a maritime theme with boat sails rigged up in the bar area, while the open kitchen is in the shape of a ship’s bow. The restaurant has a total seating capacity of 220, 100 of which are on the marina front.

Like its namesake in Qawra, the restaurant will mainly be a pizzeria offering a large variety of mouth-watering pizzas. Although the pizza dough will be the same as that used in Qawra, the menu will be very different. In fact the Tal-Kaptan Restaurant at the Valletta Waterfront will be offering a new range of pizzas that are unique on the island. Apart from pizzas, it is also offering a variety of pasta dishes together with salads and light snacks. Another unique feature is that clients can choose to have their pizzas served on boards in the middle of the table so that they can share and experience a wider variety of flavours.

Speaking about the new restaurant, Operations Manager, Duncan Zammit said that “a lot of detail has gone into creating a distinct décor with a maritime theme. We have also gone so far as to sandblast the wood to expose the vein and give it that weathered look. Contrasting with the natural wood and dark blue finishes are a selection of black and white photographs also with maritime theme. We wanted to create a destination which is complementary to the Valletta Waterfront and I think that together with our designer David Caruana we have come up with the right formula.”

Mr Zammit added that “although we have been open for only two weeks we have had an excellent response from our customers both for the quality of the food and the service. Over the coming months we will be striving to ensure that these high standards are retained and even improved.”
