The Marsascala local council yesterday filed a judicial protest in court against the Water Service Corporation, holding it responsible for damages caused by a contractor it commissioned to carry out works.
The protest was filed before the First Hall of the Civil Court against the Water Service Corporation.
In its protest, the council explained that the corporation had commissioned a contractor to carry out work in St Anne Street but this work, according to the council, was done badly and left chaos in the said road.
The council said the pavements have been shattered and water pipes damaged and as a result, water is seeping into residences, causing damage. It said it had brought this to the corporation’s attention on several occasions but this exercise was futile.
The council therefore called on the corporation to start work to repair the damage caused and held it responsible for damages sustained.
Dr Jose Herrera and Dr Veronique Dalli signed the writ.
