Malta Independent Saturday, 26 May 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The Malta Transport Authority has announced that infrastructural work is to be carried out on the Erba’ Mwiezeb Roundabout in connection with the work on the St Paul’s Bay Bypass.

Work will be carried out on part of the roundabout on Tuesday. Access for vehicular traffic and public transport will remain unimpeded, but motorists are advised to proceed with caution and follow the signs.

On Wednesday and Thursday, work will be carried on the eastern part of the Erba’ Mwiezeb roundabout (the Kennedy Drive/Burmarrad Road side). There will be no access from Kennedy Drive to Burmarrad Road, so vehicular traffic in the direction of Mosta and Valletta will be diverted to Kennedy Drive, Triq is-Salini, Salina/Iklin Road, Telgha t’Alla w Ommu and T’Alla w Ommu roundabout (Naxxar) and may proceed through Triq il-Fortizza, Triq il-Forti and Triq id-Difiza Civili to the Targa Gap roundabout (Mosta).

On Friday, there will be work on the western part of the roundabout (the Burmarrad to St Paul’s Bay centre side). Again, there will be no access from Kennedy Drive to Burmarrad Road. To this end, vehicular traffic in the direction of Mosta and Valletta will be diverted to Kennedy Drive, Triq is-Salini, Salina/Iklin Road, Telgha t’Alla w Ommu and T’Alla w Ommu roundabout (Naxxar) and may proceed through Triq il-Fortizza, Triq il-Forti and Triq id-Difiza Civili to the Targa Gap roundabout (Mosta).

On Tuesday, 5 and Wednesday, 6 June, surfacing work will be carried out on the Erba’ Mwiezeb roundabout junction, so there will be no access across this junction. To this end, public transport and vehicular traffic in the direction of Mosta and Valletta will be diverted to Kennedy Drive, Triq is-Salini, Salina/Iklin Road, Telgha t’Alla w Ommu and T’Alla w Ommu roundabout (Naxxar) and may proceed through Triq il-Fortizza, Triq il-Forti and Triq id-Difiza Civili to the Targa Gap roundabout (Mosta). Alternatively, vehicular traffic may proceed from the Xemxija roundabout (Olympic Grove), to Triq Ghajn Tuffieha, Triq Sir Temi Zammit and Triq il-Mosta (Mgarr) to the Tal-Qlejja Roundabout.

A shuttle service is being organised for residents and other users from Targa Gap to Burmarrad and vice versa.
