The small retailers’ association, the GRTU, yesterday again called on the Prime Minister to withdraw a call for tenders for computers for the public service and requested an urgent meeting between him and its representative committee of small traders.

If this call was not withdrawn, the GRTU said, the small retailers in the ICT sector would be put out of business. The call, it argued, was drawn up in a way that excluded small traders and only large contractors could tender.

This was an issue that should be resolved in consultation, not by imposition, it added.
