The reliquary of St Gorg Preca will be exhibited during a concelebrated Mass at the Granaries in Floriana on Thursday after its return to Malta from the ceremony in St Peter’s Square at which Dun Gorg was declared Malta’s first saint.

The reliquary will be brought back today, to be taken directly to Gozo by the Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Mario Grech. Its crossing to Gozo from Cirkewwa starts at 3pm,and it will be taken to various parishes, where church bells will greet it. Prayers will be said at every church where it will be exhibited and kissed.

Visits to the parishes continue tomorrow, with the first visit being to Xaghra parish church at 6.30am. In Malta, the reliquary will be at St John’s co-Cathedral until Thursday, from where it will be taken in procession at 7pm to the Granaries. Mass, led by the Archbishop, Mgr Pawl Cremona, OP, will start at 7.30pm.

After the concelebrated Mass, the reliquary will be taken to the chapel of the MUSEUM society in Blata l-Bajda, and on Friday to the place where it is normally kept, the parish church of San Gejtanu in Hamrun.
