Heritage Malta is organising a spectacular concert as part of the activities to mark Caravaggio’s 400th anniversary in Malta. Claire Baluci will be performing a live concert at Heritage Malta’s Conservation Division in Bighi against the majestic backdrop of the Grand Harbour. The concert entitled Tribute to a Master will be held on Saturday 23 June at 9pm.

Some of the guests who will also be performing on the night include local renowned artists Jacqueline Micallef Grimaud, Nicole Weaving, Beatrice Calleja, J. Anvil, dancers from the Dance masters and Protouch Dance School and a number of vocalists who have come together purposely for the occasion as Ensemble Vocale.

Claire Baluci is an award winning organist who has been highly acclaimed in international circles for her live performances. Born in Australia to a family of artists, Claire started studying music at a very young age and furthered her studies when her family re-located to Malta.

Tribute to a Master will be a fund-raising concert as all the proceeds will be used for the conservation of some of the main paintings by the so-called Caravaggisti, like Stomer, Cassarino and Valentin among others, as well as for the refurbishment of the hall at the National Museum of Fine Arts where these paintings will be exhibited.

Claire Baluci’s concert will be complemented by two choirs, dancers and spectacular laser projections. The two and a half hour-show will also feature projections of some of Caravaggio’s famous works.

Tickets for the show are available at Lm8 and Lm5 from www.maltaticket.com or from Heritage Malta’s head office in Merchant’s Street, Valletta.
