Court: Libyan Charged with injuring police officers

A Libyan national was denied bail yesterday after he pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring two policemen and a policewoman on Friday night.

Bugibba resident Mahmoud Farag Ali El Mami, 24, was charged with assaulting and slightly injuring police sergeant B. Caruana, police constable R. Attard Flores and female police constable C. Pollacco, on the night between Friday and Saturday in Paceville.

He was also charged with escaping from St Luke’s Hospital on Friday morning.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi presided over the court.

Police inspector Carlo Ellul prosecuted and legal aid Mark Busuttil appeared for the accused.
