Court: Guilty Of drug possession with intent

A man was jailed for six months suspended for two years and fined Lm500 after he was found guilty of ecstasy possession with intent to traffic the drug.

Keith Bugeja, 21, from Dingli, was found guilty of possessing eight ecstasy pills which were found in circumstances denoting they were not for his personal use. The court, presided over by Magistrate Lawrence Quintano, heard how on 6 June 2004, the police caught the accused in possession of the pills during a party in Hal Far.

Magistrate Quintano took into consideration that Bugeja had a clean police record and jailed him for six months suspended for two years.

Police Inspector Pierre Grech prosecuted.
