Le Méridien Phoenicia this year marks its 60th anniversary as a leader in the hospitality industry. To mark the launch of these celebrations, on Sunday 27 May, The North West Festival Choir UK, performed a concert in the Grand Ballroom of Le Méridien Phoenicia in aid of the Community Chest Fund.

The North West Festival Choir is made up of singers from some 40 choral societies affiliated to Making Music, The National Federation of Music Societies in the North West of England. Under its Musical Director, Dr John Bethell MBE, it undertakes workshops to learn, rehearse and perform works from the great choral repertoire.

The President and Mrs Fenech Adami and other distinguished guests were in attendance and the evening’s proceeds were donated towards the Community Chest Fund.

The choir started the concert beautifully by surprising the audience and singing the Maltese national anthem followed by renowned pieces including Vivaldi’s Gloria and Pietà, rispetto, amore by Verdi.

Le Méridien Phoenicia first opened its doors to guests in November 1947, starting a long history of excellence in the hospitality industry of Malta. Ben Sington, General Manager, commented after the concert at a reception in the hotel gardens that further celebrations will be organised this year.
