A Romanian man was yesterday conditionally discharged for two years after pleading guilty to defrauding three banks of Lm1,150 on Tuesday and the preceding days.

Paul Adrian Grigorescu, 31, pleaded guilty to defrauding HSBC Bank, Bank of Valletta and APS Bank and stealing the said amount.

Handing down his judgement, magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna took note of the fact that the accused pleaded guilty early in the proceedings and had paid back the money he stole. He conditionally discharged him for two years.

Police Inspector Kevin Borg prosecuted.
