The victim of a hold-up was not only robbed yesterday, his leg was broken when the robbers hit him with their car as they made their getaway.
The police said they were informed in the morning that a robbery had taken place in Dun Frangisk Sciberras Street, Mellieha.
When they got there they learned that two hooded and armed persons got out of a car which had stopped in the street, and accosted a couple.
The haul included documents, cheques among them, which the couple were carrying.
As the robbers made their getaway the car hit the victim, a 36-year-old man, in the leg.
The man was conveyed by ambulance to St Luke’s Hospital where it was found that his leg was broken. The car used by the robbers was found some time later.
Magistrate Dr G. Grima appointed several experts to help her in her inquiry.
