A man who was last week given a suspended jail term after pleading guilty to threatening to kill his wife through telephone calls and SMSs, yesterday reappeared in court on the same charges after he allegedly threatened to kill his wife again over the weekend.

Jesmond Azzopardi, 36, from Qormi, was charged with threatening to kill his wife, misusing telecommunications equipment and relapsing.

Before Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani, Mr Azzopardi pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was granted bail against a deposit of Lm200 and a personal guarantee of Lm800.

He was also bound not to speak to or approach his wife who works in the same factory he which he works in.

Police Inspector Walter Spiteri prosecuted while Dr Robert Abela appeared for the accused.
