Dr Francis Agius is attending the UK’s Faculty of Public Health 2007 annual conference entitled Making Public Health Work in Eastbourne, UK, until tomorrow. Among the many themes being discussed are a smoke-free society, the impact of economics on health, tackling child health obesity, initiatives towards achieving sustainable development and inequalities in health.

During the conference Dr Agius will be officially admitted as a new fellow of the Faculty of Public Health (UK). He obtained his membership in 1999, defending his theses on Health Inequities in Malta and The eradication of poliomyelitis in Malta. He graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Malta in 1984 and obtained his Master of Science degree from the University of Wales in 1987.

Dr Agius is Parliamentary Secretary responsible for Agriculture and Fisheries.
