Two farmers were charged yesterday with being involved in a fight over fields in Bahrija in May 2005.

John Portelli, 56 and Alex Portelli, 28, both from Bahrija, were arraigned before magistrate Audrey Demicoli. John Portelli alone was charged with slightly injuring Emanuel Baldacchino and damaging his spectacles, and with slightly injuring Anthony Cuschieri and Geranzio Cuschieri.

Alex Portelli alone was charged with slightly injuring Anthony Cuschieri.

The men pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

Police Inspector Geoffrey Cilia prosecuted while Dr Jose Herrera and Dr Veronique Dalli appeared for the two men.
