Bank of Valletta was the sole sponsor of ‘The College 7 Creative Competitions’, a series of educational competitions for students from ‘College 7’.
This college comprises a group of eight primary and secondary schools in the North of Malta, namely the Naxxar Boys Secondary School, the Naxxar Primary School, Gharghur Primary School, Mosta Primary Schools A and B, Lily of the Valley Girls Secondary School, St Paul’s Bay Primary School and Mellieha Primary School.
Competitions were open to students attending Year 3 to 6 in Primary Schools, along with all Secondary School students. Varied both in nature and style, competitions ranged from themed paintings, ‘centilogues’ which are exactly 100-word long compositions, and photography among others. Different competitions were organized for different grades.
Godwin Mamo, Manager of Bank of Valletta’s Naxxar branch presented students who placed first, second and third in every competition with a Bank of Valletta Young Savers Account. The presentation was held during the official prize giving ceremony organised by Raymond Facciol, Principal of College 7 who coordinated the events.
Giving an overview of the scope behind the College 7 Competition, Mr Facciol explained that, “The aim of this initiative was to encourage students to use their creativity, both in writings and in drawings. “
Speaking during the presentation, Godwin Mamo highlighted that the choice of Bank accounts as awards is an educational initiative in its own right.
“Bank of Valletta wanted to use this occasion to introduce students to the world of financial services. At BOV, we strongly believe that education is an investment in the future of our country. It is on this basis that Education forms an important pillar of our Community Programme,” concluded Mr Mamo.
