Agenda Bookshop made a donation to Ghabex, the emergency shelter for women victims of domestic violence and their children, run by Agenzija Appogg.

The donation will serve to enhance the physical environment of the women and children residing at this shelter.

Agenda Bookshop partnered with Agenzija Appogg on the occasion of Mother’s Day. During the week prior to this occasion, Lm1 was donated to Appogg from each Lm10 spent on books at any Agenda outlet. Ms. Rachelle Tabone, marketing manager for Agenda Bookshop, presented the donation, together with a number of books to Mr Joe Gerada, CEO of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services, of which Agenzija Appogg forms part.

Mr Gerada thanked Agenda Bookshop on behalf of the beneficiaries and applauded the social responsibility shown in this regard. He added that it was greatly commendable that Agenda Bookshop were so creative in their Mother’s Day event and managed to raise money to help other mothers in need. Appogg is well positioned to know who these mothers are and usually the greatest need that these mothers would have is to attend to the needs of their children.

Mr Gerada made reference to the fact that there were children in Malta who lived in poverty and Appogg social workers were all the time seeking funds to address the often basic needs that children have, such as money for a school outing.

He appealed to school children to organise events over the summer period to support other children in need through the Appogg Children’s Fund.
