Council Holds corporation responsible for damages to street

Malta Independent Tuesday, 3 July 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Marsascala local council filed an application in court yesterday against the Water Services Corporation, holding it responsible for damage caused by a contractor it had commissioned to carry out work.

The application was filed before the First Hall of the Civil Court against the Water Service Corporation.

In its protest, the council explained that the corporation had commissioned a contractor to carry out work in St Anne Street but this work, according to the council, had been done badly and the road had been left in a chaotic state.

The council said that pavements were broken and water pipes damaged. It said it had brought this to the corporation’s attention on several occasions but to no avail.

The council called on the court to declare the corporation responsible for the damage sustained and to order the corporation to carry out repair work immediately.

Dr Jose Herrera and Dr Veronique Dalli signed the writ.
