UHM Orders social workers to take industrial action

Malta Independent Tuesday, 3 July 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Union Haddiema Maghqudin’s government employees section has ordered all social workers employed in government departments to take industrial action.

UHM said in a statement yesterday that it had had to resort to industrial action after having filed several complaints regarding a number of anomalies that exist in the Social Work Class structure.

The union added that it also had to take action over the unnecessary delay on the part of the government to conclude negotiations regarding a sectoral agreement for social workers.

Social workers are therefore being ordered not to serve members of the public who visit the department and not to use telephones, mobile phones, email, the internet or faxes while they are at work.
