This evening, Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono will inaugurate an exhibition of paintings by Mark Sagona, Pawl Carbonaro and Victor Spiteri at the art..e Gallery in Library Street in Victoria, Gozo. The three artists were asked to put up the joint exhibition by the gallery directors who sought to bring together a number of artistically significant works by three established artists.
The event promises to be an exciting juxtaposition of works, all related to the theme of landscape, by two veterans and a young artist. The three artists have a very distinct style and, for the first time together, an artistic dialogue will be created on a theme by three artists who have lived in Gozo for a considerably long time. Pawl Carbonaro, undisputedly one of the leading artists in Malta will be exhibiting a number of his typical uninhibited works that are inspired by his frequent travels.
The works by Mark Sagona are inspired by well-known local landmarks and are analysed in his typical, luminous and vibrant style continuing on the collection that he presented in Rome last year.
Victor Spiteri, on the other hand, with the fresh experience of his recent sculpture exhibition, will be showing a number of quasi-abstract works departing from forms offered in nature.
The exhibition will run until 2 August. It may be viewed from Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 12.15pm and on Fridays also from 5pm to 7pm. For a private appointment, phone on 9980 4774 or 2155 7911.
