Despite some tough competition from other countries, Eleanor Cassar still managed to win the Grand Prix for Best Song and the Golden Trophy for Best Singer at the Canary Islands Festival last weekend. Singing The Reason composed by Paul Giordimaina and written by Fleur Balzan in the Festival Universong in the Canary Islands, Eleanor impressed the judges enough to carry home these two prizes. Another local singer, Priscilla Psaila, also participated in the festival and won the Bronze Trophy for Best Song.
Eleanor took part in the Festival Universong as a result of winning The Malta International TV Song Festival which was broadcast on One TV. The organisers of this festival said they would like to congratulate both Eleanor and Priscilla for their achievements.
Eleanor’s participation was made possible thanks to the work carried out by chairman Norman Hamilton and secretary Robert Cefai. Hamilton Travel Ltd sponsored Eleonor’s participation in the international festival.
