Vodafone Malta will be introducing the new roaming Euro Tariff for all its customers as from 30 August.
The launch of the new Vodafone World roaming tariff plan will be applicable for calls made and received in EU countries.
Vodafone Malta chief executive officer Inaki Berroeta said: “We have had tariffs reduced since the launch of Travel Promise in July 2005. Vodafone World was introduced last April, when we reduced our roaming prices by an average of 40 per cent for all our customers travelling in the EU”.
With the new Vodafone World roaming rate plan, customers will benefit from a rate of Lm0.25 (EUR0.58) per minute, for all outgoing calls to EU countries.
Incoming calls will be charged at Lm0.12 (EUR28) per minute for calls received while travelling in the EU. These rates apply for both post-paid and pre-paid customers.
There will be no distinction between Vodafone-preferred and non-preferred networks while calling within the EU.
“Vodafone is now offering even cheaper roaming call rates when travelling to any EU country, while at the same time adhering to the EU Directive published on 30 June 2007.
“We have revised our Vodafone World tariffs launched in March and now we are making sure that our roaming prices offer our customers simplicity and value for money.
“That is precisely what they get from our new Vodafone World roaming rates,” said Mr Berroeta.
Vodafone Malta will also be implementing a number of tariff transparency measures by 30 September. An automatic and free-of-charge Push SMS service will replace the Info Text service that Vodafone introduced on 1 April.
The Push SMS service will provide Vodafone customers with information on maximum prices for calls made in EU member states, as well as other information on Vodafone services.
In the coming days, Vodafone Malta will communicate the new euro tariff to its entire customer base through adverts, SMS, bill insertions, brochures and media communications.
Vodafone’s Travel Promise, which was launched in 2005 will remain Vodafone’s main roaming proposition for post paid customers and will be available to customers roaming in all major EU countries, as well as non-EU countries. Customers only pay a connection fee of Lm0.50 (EUR1.15) per call and then pay the same call rate of their chosen domestic tariff plan when calling the visited country or Malta.
When receiving calls while roaming on EU Travel Promise Networks like Vodafone UK, customers will be charged a rate of Lm0.30 (EUR0.70) for every 10 minutes, while for non-EU Travel Promise Networks, the rate will be kept at Lm0.50 (EUR1.15) for every 10 minutes.
There is no distinction between peak and off-peak rates on Travel Promise, so customers will be offered a simple and value-driven tariff structure. Subscribers to Vodafone’s Travel Promise can also opt for the Euro Tariff whenever they please.
