British American Tobacco Moves to new premises

The importers and distributors of tobacco products, British American Tobacco (BAT) Malta announced that they have moved to new premises in Qormi.

BAT Malta general manager Ronnie Abela said: “We moved to new modern premises in a central location, following the closure of the Central Cigarette factory. This is a new beginning for us, but BAT has been in Malta for 100 years.”

Investment, Industry and Information Technology Minister Austin Gatt officially opened the new premises on Monday in the presence of BAT director Stephan Liechti.

BAT Malta is the successor company to Central Cigarette Company Limited which used to operate from Bulebel, Zejtun. British American Tobacco is the second largest international tobacco company in the world and has operated in Malta since 1907 through various local subsidiary companies.

Mr Abela said: “BAT Malta is committed to continue supplying the local market with international brands of the highest quality and to further develop its business relations with the local community.”
