GO Mobile First to bring into effect roaming ‘euro tariff’

Malta Independent Thursday, 2 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

GO Mobile launched its new “euro tariff” on 23 July, making it the first local mobile telephony operator to bring down its fees following the recent EU ruling.

GO Mobile’s new roaming tariffs are applicable to all its customers, both post-paid and pre-paid. With the launch of these revised roaming tariffs, GO Mobile is fulfilling its promise to lower its roaming rates, made a few weeks ago, while also becoming the first Maltese operator to adhere to the EU Directive on roaming tariffs within the EU member states, published on 30 June.

Any GO Mobile customer roaming on any network within the European Union will benefit from the “Euro Tariff”, which means that outgoing calls to Malta, outgoing calls within the visited country, and outgoing calls to any EU member state will be charged at 25c (EURO 0.58) per minute. Incoming calls while roaming on any network within the European Union will be charged at 12c (EURO 0.28) per minute.

GO Mobile will also be implementing a number of transparency measures in line with the previously mentioned EU Directive on roaming, which will ensure that all GO Mobile customers will be informed about roaming tariffs via a free Push SMS service received while roaming. This service will be made available in September as mandated by the EU Directive.

GO Mobile has also introduced new Data roaming tariffs on a selected number of preferred networks in over 20 countries. Rates start from as low as Lm1 (EUR2.33) per MB and will be charged in chunks of 100Kb plus a set-up fee of 50c (EUR1.16).
