Irregular Immigrant gets suspended jail term for seriously injuring co-national

An irregular immigrant was yesterday jailed for one year suspended for two years after he was found guilty of seriously injuring a co-national in Marsa on 19 July when he hit him repeatedly with a bottle.

Abdel Rizak Hussein, 27, from Somalia, was found guilty of seriously injuring Fousi Mouse Abdi, also from Somalia at the Marsa Open Centre. He was also found guilty of breaching the peace, disfiguring the man and of assaulting him.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi jailed him for one year suspended for two.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted while Dr Anthony Cutajar appeared for the accused.
